BIO

Ann Miller is a Waltham-based mixed-media artist and printmaker. During a 30-year career as a technical writer, she always worked to maintain a practice in hands-on expressive media, including hand paper-making, book making, and various fiber arts. She began making collages around 2005, studying with Alexandra Sheldon. More recently she began exploring monoprinting, fascinated by the spontaneity and variety of approaches offered by this versatile medium. Now retired from technical writing, and having recently acquired a vintage American French Tool etching press, Ann practices printmaking and collage arts from her studio.

I love the process of putting marks on paper, using a variety of materials, and then seeing what they say. It’s an intuitive, layered, and contemplative journey, each mark leading to the next. My purpose is to draw the viewer in. When one connects with images that are born in mystery and hope, something might just shift. Change and renewal might just be possible.
