“I love metaphors, they inspire me, particularly ones featuring animals found in the prose of my favorite poets. In my linocut series, Poetic Animals I depict some of the animals I meet in these eloquent poems.

Andrea Tishman has been an artist in the Boston area for over 25 years. She works in linocut on paper, oil on canvas, oil on wood panel, and pastel and charcoal on sanded paper. Her recent series of linoleum cut prints feature familiar animals inspired the poems she reads. Tishman tries to capture the energy and beauty of the words.

Tishman received her BFA from Cornell University and studied at l’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.  Her work is in many private collections and has been exhibited in galleries in Massachusetts, New York, and Paris.
